Simple steps to ensure a quality Maverick Quilting quilted item.
· Complete your pieced quilt top.
· Measure the length and width in inches.
· Acquire the backing material, ensuring the size is at least 4 inches larger on each side.
o Making a total of an additional 8 inches added to each length and width.
· Decide
o Bring your own batting.
o Batting should at least match the size of your backing.
OR
o Let me get the batting for you for a minimal cost.
o I will typically use Hobbs 80/20 cotton batting.
· Select your thread color to complement your quilt top.
o Bottom and top thread colors are closely matched.
· Select your quilt pattern.
o Edge-to-Edge patterns only.
· Make arrangements to get your fabric to me.
· Drop off
o Complete the order form at the drop-off.
o Mutually determine a pickup date.
o Pay and pickup your quilted item.
Considerations.
· Thread – Color for your pattern is usually subtle for emphasis on your quilt top.
Beige or off-white are most popular.
· Batting – for wall hangings, double batting is suggested for extra stiffness.
· Consider wool batting if going to be used in a colder climate.
· Pattern – Complex stitching patterns take longer, and cost more.
For many small items, i.e., a pillow size, etc., consider using the same backing material, where the items can be strategically placed on the larger backing for faster quilting. Backing size dimension rules still apply. You would cut them apart later for your final assembly.
